Jungle Book and Into the Woods – Week 4

Commitment, Passion, Practice

Rehearsals this Sunday were fantastic! Our actors are in the thick of it and we couldn’t be prouder of their dedication and commitment. Hearts were pumping, feet were moving, and they did great! We are super impressed with everyone’s progress. All four casts also dug deeper into character-development and blocking. As the weeks continue, it will be super important that our actors practice at home. Practice, practice, practice. Retention between rehearsals is key. Please ask your actor if they are off-book.

Mindful Moment Highlight

Jungle Book Cast

• So awesome.  The actors rehearsed their blocking on the Zale stage with the set pieces. This took a little adjustment, but the actors were so excited to work on the stage!
•  While working on their lines, the actors were also developing their characters’ relationships which will result in a richer performance.
•  If they haven’t already, actors should start practicing with the performance tracks (i.e. instrumentals with no singing!) This will give our actors a chance to practice their timing and develop confidence.
•   It’s so fantastic to see their progress! Can’t wait till next week.

Into the Woods Cast

• The actors had the opportunity to rehearse on the Zale stage today!  They were excited to work with the set pieces and perform on the real stage.
• This was also the first time the actors worked with the performance tracks instead of the sing-a-long tracks. This showed them the importance of working
with these tracks on their own time so they can get the timing right and get more comfortable with the music.
• During music rehearsals, Mr. Adam taught them the importance of articulation while singing, something that becomes even more important since the
actors will be performing in masks
• Next week is the off book date!!! Keep practicing the blocking and the music!

Rehearsal – Sunday, February 7

• Drop off is 1:10 – 1:25 pm.
•  There will not be anyone outside after 1:25 pm and the front doors will be locked.
• Rehearsals will begin promptly at 1:30 pm.
• Please email me if you have any issues or unforeseen delays.
• Pick-up will be at 5:30 pm.
• Please remind our performers to bring their scripts, folder, pencil, and a highlighter.
• Please pack a healthy snack and a water bottle.
• Your actor should wear clothes they can easily move in. We suggest sneakers or bring their jazz/dance shoes.

Costume Fittings begin this Sunday with Jungle Book

• Jungle Book Casts will have costume fittings on Sunday, February 7
• Into the Woods Cast will have costume fittings on Sunday, February 14

I sent both casts an email with time slots. Please arrive 5 minutes prior to your time slot.  Jungle Book also received this week a separate email with the Base Layers our actors need and instructions on how to bring it to the J.  Into the Woods Cast… your list of items needed will be sent out by the end of the week.

How to Bring Additional Items Requested

Your actor will need to bring their base layers with them to the costume fittings, to complete their costumes (these items will STAY at the J – except for dance shoes. We will collect those the Sunday before tech.) PLEASE DO NOT HAVE THEM WEAR THESE ITEMS TO THE FITTINGS.

    • How to bring items?
      • Please have each item your actor needs labeled with your actor’s name and the BAG needs to be clearly labeled with your actor’s name and what cast they are in.  This is super important, so we can stay organized.

Reminder About Healthy Snacks

Please continue to do your best to provide healthy snacks, low in sugar. Healthy, low-sugar snacks help to keep our performers engaged, focused, and on task. Actors will not be allowed to use the vending machines.
