Food Service Director

Joey Ohayon is the Food Service Director at the J. Originally from Montreal, Canada, Joey grew up surrounded by various cultures and amazing foods. He learned tricks of the trade from his mother who was also in the food industry and quickly grew a love & passion for food. He brings a deep understanding of the food service industry as a self-taught chef and as the former owner of Fino! Italian Kitchen (restaurant & catering), where he served the Dallas Jewish community for over 20 years. He is very excited to be a part of the J team and help bring people together and build a strong community through food.

Head Chef

Gene was born in the Carolinas where he started cooking at the age of 15, eventually working in many restaurants and catering operations and for the last eight years he was running a personal chef business. He is a family man, happily married with three beautiful children. Educational merits include degrees and certifications in Business Administration and Law (WCU), Culinary (Galveston), Plant Based Nutrition (ECornell) and Health and Wellness Coaching (Emory University). Along my journey I found passion in real, clean food - scratch food that tastes like time, effort and love went into the making of it – that’s the food he loves to make. Gene is excited to be a part of the JCC family and working with a wonderful staff and bright future!
