ARE WE RESILIENT – YOU BET WE ARE?

Wow, what a week we had.  We were so happy to see our actors on Sunday and again yesterday!  We were prepared and ready to explore many of our actor’s feelings as we returned on Sunday after missing a week due to the arctic weather that affected so many of us, in so many different ways. It felt like family to be back, doing what we love, supporting each other through it all.  That is what theater families do!  We are now in theater count down mode.  In less than two weeks our actors take the stage!  Tons of excitement is starting to brew, nerves will come into play soon, self-care becomes very important, and REHEARSING AT HOME is key! I strongly urge you to ask your actors to practice their lines, sing their songs, and watch/practice the choreography videos at least three times during the week. All actors need to be off-book and should be ready to focus when they arrive. Please encourage them! Perhaps provide a little pep talk before rehearsals this Sunday. It is in the next week when we begin to put all the pieces of the performance together; it’s a wonderful time. In addition to the amazing progress, they are making with the actual show and the performance skills being learned, it warms my heart to see the friendships being made and the social/emotional development taking place that only theater magic can do!

Thank you for accommodating the additional rehearsals.  Also read below for the final rehearsal, tech, and performance schedules.  All are mandatory.  I sent out an email on Monday with this information but wanted to make sure you have it again

Friendly Reminder

It is important that our actors don’t miss rehearsal. We are at a critical point in the show process where everyone’s participation is needed. Remember: acting is a team sport.

Jungle Book Cast

The focus was on gratitude and how thankful we are to work with each other.

• Both casts are done blocking the entire show! We are so proud of how focused the actors have been in rehearsals.
• The actors have also learned all the music in the show! They’re very excited to keep improving and start putting the whole show together.
• Our next rehearsal will be a stumble through, meaning that they’ll put the blocking, choreography, and music together and run the whole show. This allows them to see where they are doing well and where they need to improve.
• A little over one week until tech and the performance! It’s so important for the actors to buckle down and keep working on the show whenever they can.  They got this!

Into the Woods Cast

The focus was on gratitude and how thankful we are to work with each other.

• Although the snowstorm changed our plans, both Into the Woods casts got a chance to try on their costumes! Seeing the costumes makes the show feel even more real. And they look awesome!
• As the actors get more comfortable with the choreography, they have been working more on how to dance as their characters. This practice adds another layer of depth to making their characters feel like real people.
• As we get closer to finishing blocking, it is important for actors to get completely off book. This allows them to work on their characterizations and also helps them polish their choreography and blocking.
• We have about two weeks left before tech begins and our final performance! It is important for the actors to keep working on the show between rehearsals so that we can move forward.

Our Characters are in the House!

Performing Arts Camps

We’ve extended our register early bird pricing through March 5.  After March 5th pricing will increase.  If you haven’t signed up yet, please do as we have limited spots and we can’t wait to make theater magic with your actor all summer long.  If you have questions about either of our camps, please email me and we can set up a time to talk.  Summer is the best time and the year where we make memories that last a lifetime while creating, growing, learning and having fun!
