Mah Jongg Supervised Play
When:
November 4-7
Time: 1:30 – 4 pm

This 2.5 hour session will help you build skills and strategies to improve your play. This course is designed for students who have learned to play Mah Jongg with Gail Mizrahi at the J.

Instructor Bio: Gail Mizrahi

Gail has been surrounded by the game of Mah Jongg all her life. Her mother played weekly and even hosted the game at their home, it is one of her most cherished memories, hearing the tiles clicking and the general conversation that took place about the women’s hands they played.

Gail learned to play the game in 1990; oddly enough, she was taught by a dear friend, not her mother, and has had a passion for the game ever since. Generally, she plays once a week but is always willing to sub in another group if she is available to do so. She has also played in various Mahj tournaments around the DFW Metroplex as well as out-of-town tournaments, which include the Big One in Las Vegas!

Teaching Mah Jongg gives Gail great pleasure. She says “Not only are you playing a challenging and fast-paced game, but it offers camaraderie with others; it enhances one’s memory; it sharpens one’s listening skills; it demands mind flexibility.” For a number of years, she has taught in a variety of settings, from large groups to individuals and she looks forward to teaching at the JCC to hopefully her students will learn to love the game as much as she does!
