Lunch & Learn about Hereditary Cancer
Cancer Genetics: How Do You Wear Your Genes?
Join Elana Silber, CEO of Sharsheret, as she addresses the urgent statistic that Ashkenazi Jewish women and men are at 10x greater risk of developing hereditary cancer than those in the general population. Studies show that Sephardi and Mizrachi Jewish populations may also be at heightened risk for mutations that raise cancer risk.
The presentation will address the life-saving importance of knowing your family cancer history, learning about cancer genetic mutations (BRCA, Chek2, ATM, Palb2, and others), understanding how to access genetic testing, and adopting healthy living behaviors to lower your risk of cancer, including breast ovarian, prostate, pancreatic, melanoma, and male breast cancer.
