The J’s Sports and Fitness Complex has your safety in mind with everything you need to get a full workout. Our updated health and safety policies will provide peace of mind to all our members. The J Sports Complex is much more than a gym – we have an indoor lap pool with 6 lanes, a warm water pool, an outdoor pool (open Memorial Day to Labor day), 8 lighted outdoor tennis courts, soccer fields, 3 basketball courts, a gymnastics gym, studios for spin classes, Yoga and Pilates, FREE virtual and in-person fitness classes and more!

Our fitness center provides world-class equipment and unmatched facilities including full-body workout cardio equipment with personal TV screens, free weights, and selectorized machines. After your workout, enjoy the full-service locker rooms.

At the J, there are tons of group fitness classes to choose from, whether you’re looking to shake things up in Zumba or build strength and focus in Yoga. We have something for everyone! Our class options include: in-person, online or hybrid simulcast.

12 – 14 years of age and older welcome with parent supervision.

We have tons of exercise classes for adults, youth, families, and seniors. All classes are led by experienced fitness instructors who know how to motivate you and make exercise fun. So don’t go at it alone – join us for a Group Fitness Class today!

Anthony Rene

Anthony specializes in sports performance and functional training for clients of all fitness levels. As a former Division 1 track and field athlete with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science, he brings 15+ years of experience designing goal-oriented programs that challenge clients to safely push past their limits. Anthony’s approach blends athletic expertise with thoughtful coaching to help clients build strength, improve performance, and become the best version of themselves.

Qualifications & Experience

  1. 15 plus years in sports and performance training.
  2. Bachelor of science in exercise science.
  3. Former division 1 track and field athlete
  4. Adept at exercise programming for various fitness levels.

Avani Johnson

Avani works with individuals across the lifespan to improve movement quality, strength, and resilience. She specializes in functional strength training, mobility, injury prevention, and sports conditioning for those managing chronic illness, injury, disability, or movement disorders. Her evidence-informed, adaptable approach supports both rehabilitation-minded clients and active individuals seeking safe, sustainable performance.

Barbara Edes

Barbara specializes in functional strength, mobility, and heart-rate–guided cardio training for adults 40 and beyond. A highly experienced NASM-certified personal trainer and yoga instructor, she integrates strength, spinning, aerial skills, and breath-centered yoga to support flexibility, balance, and mind–body connection. Barbara’s thoughtful approach delivers more than a workout — helping clients build confidence, move with intention, and reconnect with their bodies.

Barton David

Barton brings over 20 years of experience guiding clients of all ages toward healthier, more capable movement. A MAYO Clinic–trained health and wellness coach, he specializes in functional strength, cardio, and mobility, with focused support for weight loss, metabolic health, and corrective exercise. His coaching-driven approach helps adults, seniors, youth, and athletes build sustainable habits and enjoy movement for life.

Christi Simmons

Christi is a M.S. Kinesiology and Exercise Physiology–trained coach who focuses on form, technique, and functional fitness for all ages. Christi’s evidence-based approach delivers immediate feedback and results. She specializes in biomechanics, sports performance, and senior strength, balance, and mobility, while also leading small group and high-intensity programs including spin, TRX, kettlebell, HIIT, Speedflex, and boxing, helping clients move safely, build strength, and reach their fitness goals.

David Morin

Dave specializes in functional mobility, strength, and muscular endurance for clients of all ages, with a focus on golf-specific mobility, kettlebell training, sports preparedness, injury prevention, and senior fitness. An ACSM–certified personal trainer and Precision Nutrition–certified health coach, he integrates rotational core strength and athletic agility to support safe, effective movement. Dave’s guidance-driven approach honors the body as a gift, helping clients build strength, improve performance, and enjoy lifelong fitness.

Donna Mazow

Donna attended the University of Texas at Austin and is a NASM certified personal trainer. Donna works hard to tailor her programs to the client's level, assist in setting realizable goals and when met makes getting to the next level achievable. Donna’s mission is to help her clients feel strong, confident and most of all feel healthy and happy!

Emily Field

Emily brings over 26 years of experience supporting strength, mobility, and long-term wellness across the lifespan. A Senior Fitness Training Specialist with advanced expertise in orthopedic and post-cancer training, she designs evidence-based programs that prioritize safe progression, functional strength, and resilience. Her background as a marathon champion informs a thoughtful, performance-aware approach — helping clients rebuild, maintain, and optimize movement with confidence.

Joey Saks

Joey brings firsthand experience in transformation, having lost 110 pounds and maintained his results through sustainable training. Joey’s confidence-driven, goal-focused coaching empowers clients to build strength, improve performance, and achieve lasting results.

Justin Hodan

Justin Hodan, a graduate from the University of Texas at Dallas, is a professional fitness coach and trainer. He is the owner of Kenji-Con, a company working to develop innovative solutions to connect fitness and wellness professionals to clients around the globe.

Mark Kimrey

Mark has over 20 years of experience in strength and conditioning and fitness with credentials including NSCA CSCS, USA Weightlifting, USA Track and Field, USA Powerlifting, and CrossFit Level 1, as well as B.S. in Exercise Science. He specializes in sports performance, strength, speed, power development, and metabolic conditioning. Mark loves helping people reach their goals, realize their full human potential, and keeping them functional for everyday life.

Rachel Levin

Born and raised in Dallas, I grew up within our community, went to the University of Denver, and came back to Dallas as a teacher. All the while, my love for health and fitness grew. Years of training competitively have helped me to gain the knowledge and experience to provide personalized workouts that are both efficient and effective.

Rachelle Toller

Rachelle supports clients across the lifespan with a focus on pre- and post-natal fitness, helping individuals build strength, confidence, and safe movement through every stage. A Precision Nutrition–certified coach with advanced training in senior fitness, she integrates movement and nutrition to support long-term health. Her performance-based approach emphasizes progressive overload and custom programming, helping clients train intelligently and stay prepared for the activities and adventures they enjoy.

Shay Bareni, PhD

Shay is a movement and performance specialist whose advanced education in kinesiology, sports management, and human performance shapes her work in post-operative rehabilitation, injury prevention, and functional strength. Her expertise extends to golf-specific performance training, where precision, balance, and efficient movement are essential. Drawing from both clinical science and her experience as a professional high jumper, Shay helps clients better understand their bodies, restore confidence, and move with greater balance and ease.

Tre Bradley

He is very passionate, highly trained, and educated as a certified Fitness Professional with NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist, Strategic Interventionist Relationship Counseling for individuals, couples, and families.

Fitness Assessments

Ages: 15 Years and older

The J fitness staff wants each and every member to experience exercise and fitness in the most positive way possible and we aspire to assist each one of you in achieving all of your health and fitness goals. Do you already know what you want from your workout but don’t quite know how to use the equipment? During this orientation, a member of our experienced certified personal training staff shows you how to correctly use each piece of equipment. You learn proper alignment, biomechanics, and technique on each strength piece, as well as proper usage of all cardiovascular pieces. This is a great way to become familiar with all the equipment at the J.

M.A.T. works to identify specific muscular weaknesses and restores strength to relieve joint stress that can cause pain and dysfunction. Experienced Certified Personal Training

Ages: 13 Years and older

Are you looking to tone up or drop a few extra pounds? Do you play sports and want to become faster, quicker, and more agile? Want a program to help strengthen the body and improve overall functionality? Perhaps you are just looking for new ways to spice up the old program. Our professional training team can help you to successfully achieve your goals. Fitness assessments consist of measurements of one or more aspects of your health and fitness. It may include your weight, cardiovascular condition (resting and exercise heart rate and performance), body composition, musculoskeletal condition, blood pressure, and body size (circumferences). The objective of your first assessment is to give you a baseline from which to measure your performance. Subsequent assessments provide milestones to help you evaluate your progress. In our state-of-the-art Fitness Complex, we are more versatile than ever. A 24-hour cancellation notice is required or the client is charged for the session. Training sessions expire ninety (90) days after purchase (gift certificates are no exception!).

  • All appointments are 1 on 1 with a Doctor of Physical Therapy and members can access their health insurance benefits.
  • Concierge Physical Therapists is IN network with Medicare Part B and most Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Texas policies.
  • Except for UHC other insurances are accepted on an out of network basis. Members are offered a preferred out of pocket rate of $120 per appt.

FITNESS CENTER INFORMATION

Sports + Fitness Complex

HOURS

  • Monday – Thursday: 5 am – 9 pm
  • Friday: 5 am – 6 pm
  • Saturday & Sunday: 7 am – 6 pm

General Fitness Floor Policies:

  1. The fitness floor is for members only. Non-members and program participants are not permitted to utilize the fitness center.
  2. Only approved JCC trainers/coaches can train in the fitness center. Any member who is witnessed training/coaching may have their membership terminated. Any non-member trainer/coach will be asked to leave the facility.
  3. The JCC is not responsible for personal belongings, including lost or stolen items.
  4. Proper exercise attire is required and should cover the body appropriately.
    1. Tops are always required and should cover the full torso.
    2. Full-coverage shorts need to be longer than your glutes.
    3. Clothing with zippers, snaps, buttons, etc. (i.e. jeans) cannot be worn.
    4. Closed-toed shoes are required.
    5. No offensive or derogatory graphics or language will be allowed on campus.
  5. All carried items (such as bags, backpacks, purses, tennis racquets, and cell phones) are not allowed onto the Fitness Center Floor. These can be placed in the locker room or the cubbies in the fitness center.
  6. Phone conversations on the fitness floor are prohibited. Members who are using their phones for other functionality should be mindful of the time spent on the machines.
  7. Remember to wipe down the equipment after each use.
  8. Always be considerate of others. Work in and share equipment with other members and limit extended use.
  9. Horseplay, loud or offensive language, harassment, or disrespectful outbursts will not be tolerated. This behavior may result in the expulsion of the fitness center, suspension of membership, and/or termination.
  10. Immediately report any facility-related injury, or facility or equipment irregularity to the on-duty staff.
  11. Please respect staff-only spaces such as offices, storage rooms, or audio-visual control rooms.
  12. No food, drink, or gum is allowed onto the Fitness Floor at any time, except water or sports drinks.

Fitness Floor Age Policies:

  1. Members 14 years old and older may use the fitness center without direct supervision.
  2. Children 11-13 may exercise on the track, or cardio machines with direct adult supervision.
  3. Members 14-17 years old who do not adhere to rules and policies will lose independent privileges and will be required to have direct adult supervision while using the fitness center.
  4. Children 10 years old or younger are not permitted on the fitness floor at any time.

Track Policies:

  1. All phone usage on the track is prohibited.
  2. Participants using the track have the right of way. Please look in both directions before crossing.
  3. Slower traffic stays to the outside: The innermost lane is for faster runners and speed workouts.
  4. Avoid standing on the track: Keep moving or move to the side.
  5. Pass on the right: You may need to step into another lane to let people go by.

Free Weight Policies:

  1. Members must not wear weight belts when on equipment that contains upholstery.
  2. Members should return equipment to the racks and in the proper order.
  3. Members should move weights from the racks to the bars only. Plates should never be placed on the floor or leaned against equipment or walls.
  4. Dropping, throwing, or banging weights or dumbbells are prohibited.
  5. Members should utilize spotters when necessary.
