Passion, Dedication, and Commitment!

Everyone is going to be stepping up their “show” game the next few weeks, so get ready – very exciting!  Both casts should be off-book – way to go! All extra lines have been provided. We made it here because of everyone’s hard work. Our directors are working with our actors to find the intention and motivations behind what their characters are saying/doing. It is important for the actors to find the intention behind their words and actions on stage. By doing so, our actors will perform with conviction and purpose when they “tell” the story to the audience. It’s amazing to see it all come together!

PLEASE encourage your actors to use the resource library where they can find all the choreography videos and songs. These next few weeks will be challenging and thrilling. Again, actors will begin to put the show together from top to bottom; lots of energy will be needed. Please continue to encourage them to learn and practice their lines, choreography, and blocking. Self-care is extremely important as we move into this last phase in the creative process. Sleep, rest, eating well, and meditation are all tools we hope they use to find their inner balance and calm during these upcoming weeks!  Theater transforms children in so many ways. I hope all of you are seeing the positive impact it is making in your actor’s life. We sure do!

SPRING BREAK FAMILIES! I can’t stress this enough, please encourage your actors to put in the time to rehearse and watch the videos.  As one of our actors who is 7 said it best.  “Since we don’t have school, this means we can even put more time into practicing at home for the show.  If we all do it, think about how much better off we will be.”  Great advice and perspective!

Friendly Reminder

It is important that our actors don’t miss rehearsal. We are at a critical point in the show process where everyone’s participation is needed. Remember: acting is a team sport.

Electronic Resource Library

Pride Rock Highlights

  • We started rehearsal off with a combined meditation, facilitated by Alise. It was great to check in with her and to see friends from the other cast.
  • As our warmup, we played Soul Train—a fun dancing game that incorporates animal movements.
  • We reviewed The Circle of Life and Grasslands Chant both vocally and choreographically. Videos of that will be on the Educational Resource Library for the kids to review.
  • Jimmy and Skylar emphasized this advice to the kids: You’re never going to figure out anything by not trying. Sing loud! Dance big! If you make mistakes, that just means we know where we need to work/improve.

Hakuna Matata Highlights

  • This past Sunday at rehearsal we got to wish our very own Benjamin Stern a very happy birthday and enjoy some delicious cupcakes!
  • The kids got a first look at the amazing Rhino and Elephant costumes that our costume department has been constructing!
  • Speaking of costumes, we finished all our fittings this week and everyone looks fantastic!
  • During rehearsal we continued our stumble though, and our actors got a chance to learn their set changes and start practicing with some of the props that we’ll be using for the show including Baby Simba.

Costume Fittings

If your actor has not brought a bag in yet with all their undergarments needed for the show, they MUST do this on Sunday please if they are attending rehearsal!  If your actor is absent on Sunday the 17, YOU MUST please bring their undergarments on Sunday the 24th – the latest.

How to Bring Items
Please have each item labeled with your actor’s name; the BAG needs to be clearly labeled with your actor’s name and what cast they are in. This is super important so we can stay organized!

Important Updates for Our Day at the Zoo!

We will meet everyone who registered with me to go to the Zoo this Sunday, March 17. Our plan is to meet at 9:00 AM in the front of the zoo.  We have a fun and exciting itinerary planned and it’s sure to be an amazing time!  Please make sure each actor has $6 for entry and some additional money to perhaps feed some animals and grab a snack or token!  We look forward to seeing you there! Check your email if you signed up for additional details.

Purchase Your Tickets!

If you have not purchased tickets yet, or shared with your family and friends please do.  Last year we sold out of our Sunday 2pm shows and we don’t want our parents, their family or friends not be able to get tickets.! Not sure if this will happen (I hope we sell out) but don’t want it to affect you!

Kid’s Are Marketers Too!

Please ask your actors if they gave out their marketing flyers that we provided them.. If they have not yet please encourage them. If they want a few more, I might have some extras. Just have them ask me.
