We’re Rockin’ and We Ain’t Stoppin’

We have reached the half-way point – way to go! Now more than ever, our actors need to come prepared and focusedAll actors should be off-book by this weekend. PLEASE encourage them to memorize their blocking and lines, to know all the songs learned to date, and to use the Electronic Resource Library to help with music and choreography.

Now we are in the fun part of rehearsing. Well, it’s all FUN! But, as our actors get used to saying their lines off-book, their director is encouraging them to think more about their character and how they would talk, stand, etc. All the character development we worked on earlier in the process comes into play now. Our characters come alive with meaning, purpose, and personality.

Our actors are doing great, and we want to keep the momentum going. We believe with some practice in between rehearsals our actors are going to nail it. A shout-out to our actors for bringing their best selves each week. We commend our actors for their determination and dedication; it is admirable.

Electronic Resource Library

PLEASE share this with your actor. This section is designed to assist them between rehearsals. Happy practicing!

4 Things You Can do With Your Actor This Week

1. In the car: listen to the music so they sing along (in character).
2. Ask to review the ERL videos with them for 10 minutes, and then ask them to show you what they learned.
3. Ask your actor to give you a “sneak peek” of one of the numbers and have them perform for you.
4. Practice lines with your actor and act out a scene or two with them.

Jungle Book Cast

• The actors had their costume fittings last Sunday! They were so excited to try on their costumes and show them off for our production team. Afterwards, they took the time to review their lines before rehearsal.
• The actors also had their first stumble through! This allowed them to run the show from beginning to end and see where they did well and where they can improve.
• We encourage the actors to get off book as quickly as possible. This will allow them to get more comfortable with characterization.
• We also encourage our actors to practice with the performance tracks as often as possible!
• We’re officially at the halfway mark in rehearsals. It is important that the actors continue to review what they learn in rehearsals so that we keep moving forward.
• Please have your actor “write out” your show if they have not started! Actors should make a list of their entrances and exits and what costumes they wear when!

Into the Woods Cast

• Sunday was the first off book rehearsal! Although the actors were initially nervous, we assured them that they knew a lot more than they think they did. By running the show so far, the actors not only picked up on places where they can improve, but also noticed the places where they did very well!
• Being off book also allowed the actors to think more deeply about their characters. We’ve already heard a lot of interesting discussion about how to portray their characters authentically.
• As the actors get more comfortable with the music, it becomes even more important to practice with the performance tracks. This allows them to fine-tune their timing.
• Costume fitting’s are this week! Make sure that the actors bring their under layers.

Costume Fittings For Into The Woods is This Sunday

Into the Woods Cast will have costume fittings on Sunday, February 14

Please arrive 5 minutes prior to your time slot. An email was sent this week to our Into the Woods Cast for Base Layers our actors need and instructions on how to bring it to the J for Sunday.

How to Bring Additional Items Requested

Your actor will need to bring their base layers with them to the costume fittings, to complete their costumes (these items will STAY at the J – except for dance shoes. We will collect those the Sunday before tech.) PLEASE DO NOT HAVE THEM WEAR THESE ITEMS TO THE FITTINGS.

    • How to bring items?
      • Please have each item your actor needs labeled with your actor’s name and the BAG needs to be clearly labeled with your actor’s name and what cast they are in.  This is super important, so we can stay organized.

Set Designs, Projections and more!

Our team has been working behind the scenes. Set design is in full effect, and so are our costumes and they are looking fabulous.   A few pics from our Jungle Book Costume Fitting!
