February is Black history month and a great time to celebrate the Giants of Jazz. Join us for a family friendly exploration of this wonderful musical genre, and the people who created it. Jazz artist and author Peter Seymour will join us to present his new children’s book The Giants of Jazz from A-Z as well as a musical demonstration of the genre.

About the Author: Double bassist Peter Seymour has performed with many of the world’s most highly acclaimed artists and ensembles, including the Cleveland Orchestra, New World Symphony, Houston Symphony, New York City Ballet,  Iris Orchestra and the Colorado Music Festival. He was the recipient of the Downbeat Magazine Award for Best Jazz Soloist. For the last 2 decades he has been dedicated to his ensemble, PROJECT Trio.

Since the inception of PROJECT Trio, Peter has taken on many roles, including CEO, manager, and community engagement director. The trio has amassed over 100,000,000 views on YouTube with 112,000 subscribers. The have performed on four continents, in 25 countries, and 43 states. From the Kennedy Center to the Sydney Conservatory of Music to the Belarusian Philharmonic Hall and back to their home town Carnegie Hall, the Trio brings unmatched energy to every performance. Peter is especially passionate about education and outreach and has organized events for the Trio benefiting over 600,000 students.
Peter received a Bachelor of Music degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music and a Master’s Degree in Bass Performance from Rice University where he was a student of Paul Ellison. He lives with his wife and two daughters in Brooklyn, NY
