Lion King – Week 7
a note from alise

Passion, Dedication, and Commitment…Bravo!

Dear Parents,

Everyone is going to be stepping up their “show” game this week so get ready – very exciting! Both casts should be off-book – way to go! We made it here because of everyone’s hard work.

Our directors are working with our actors to find the intention and motivations behind what their characters are saying/doing. It is important for the actors to find the intention behind their words and actions on stage. By doing so, our actors will perform with conviction and purpose when they “tell” the story to the audience. It’s amazing to see it all come together!

PLEASE encourage your actors to use the resource library where they can find all the choreography videos and songs. These next few weeks will be challenging and thrilling. Again, actors will begin to put the show together from top to bottom; lots of energy will be needed. Please continue to encourage them to learn and practice their lines, choreography, and blocking. Self-care is extremely important as we move into this last phase in the creative process. Sleep, rest, eating well, and meditation are all tools we hope they use to find their inner balance and calm during these upcoming weeks!

Theater transforms children in so many ways. I hope all of you are seeing the positive impact it is making in your actor’s life. We sure do!

Friendly Reminder

It is important that our actors don’t miss rehearsal. We are at a critical point in the show process where everyone’s participation is needed. Remember: acting is a team sport.

Electronic Resource Library

PLEASE share this with your actor. This section is designed to assist them between rehearsals. Happy practicing!

Rehearsal: Sunday, March 8

  • Hakuna Cast will meet in Zale Auditorium.
  • Matata Cast will meet in the Senior Assembly Room.
  • Pick-up will be at 5:30 pm in the lobby.

Mindful Meditation

In meditation, we talked about how anything can happen and each day is a gift for great opportunities. We reminded ourselves that we are AWESOME.

If you actor did not bring all their undergarments, PLEASE DO.

How to Bring Items
Please have each item labeled with your actor’s name; the BAG needs to be clearly labeled with your actor’s name and what cast they are in. This is super important so we can stay organized!

Digital Marketing Kits & Tickets

Please continue to use elements from our digital marketing kit on social media. Word-of-mouth is the ultimate tool – THANK YOU!

For those who wanted to join us for our morning at the Dallas Zoo this Sunday BEFORE rehearsals, yesterday you should have received an email from me. If you did not, that means I do not have you down as joining us. Please reach out to me ( if this is something your actor would like to do this Sunday morning.

Let’s Go Viral – Can You Hear Me Roar Challenge

Please mark your calendars for Thursday, March 12 – I’ve created a marketing blitz challenge for all of us. I will be sending the information in a separate email on Thursday of this week. I passionately, kindly, lovingly, and excitedly ask that EACH of you participate. It will only take five minutes of your time, but the impact will be large; I know we can do it. If I intrigued you, keep an eye out from me with the subject line: ‘Let’s Go Viral. Can You Hear Me Roar Challenge?’

Kids Are Marketers Too!

Please ask your actors if they gave out their marketing flyers that we provided last Sunday. If they have not yet, please encourage them. If they want a few more, I might have some extras. Just have them ask me.

Complimentary Tickets

All families will receive one (1) complimentary ticket per actor enrolled in the program. For those of you who sent me their bios early, you will receive an additional complimentary ticket. All complimentary and purchased tickets will be available at will call on the day of the performances and can be used toward any performance.

Volunteering is Fun!

  • Matata Cast – we are in need of three more dressing room volunteers. Two for the 2:00 pm show on Sunday April 2 and one for the 6:00 pm show on Thursday, April 2. We need your help; our actors need your help. If you have not signed up, come on…it’s fun and thrilling. If you have signed up and can do a second slot, please do. WE CAN’T DO IT WITHOUT YOU.

Reminder: to everyone who did sign-up, THANK YOU and you rock! I will be sending out a separate email for those who signed up for the dressing rooms and the food committee. Dressing room volunteers: remember, we will need you to select TWO days of tech to join us so that you are prepared and we are ready for performances. I will send you a new sign-up link just for tech days – THANK YOU! Theater magic…here we come!
