4 Tips for the 4th of July

With the hustle and bustle of a busy weekend, it’s easy to get caught up and let the stress get the best of us. Here are 4 tips for the 4th that will help keep your cool in the heat:

  1. MEAL PREP: while it may sound like the last thing you want to do, things like cutting veggies for burgers ahead of time will help you add the crunch instead of putting you in a crunch. This will leave you more time for…more…anything!
  2. SNACK PREP: think of snacks that you can easily keep in your bag and don’t need much refrigeration. Keep a small cooler in your bag so you are always prepared when “hangry” moments strike. Energy bites are easy to make, easier to eat, and will give you the energy you need for all of the weekend fun! Here are more ideas.
  3. HYDRATE: among other things, dehydration can cause: dizziness, fatigue, and headache. These symptoms can put a damper on the mood of any festivity. Stay one step ahead and hydrate before, during, and after physical activity or being outside. For more tips on hydration check out this post here.
  4. PUT DOWN THE PHONE: Seriously y’all! I know this is my soapbox, but think of how many moments you miss staring down at your phone. What does your child’s face look like when seeing fireworks for the first time? Did your husband put on enough sunscreen? Was your mom super proud of herself for making the best potato salad of all time? Wouldn’t you be sad to miss these times? Taking out distractions and focusing on what’s in front of you can help you be more mindful and less stressed.
